Who can sign?
Signatures must be from Registered Democrats living in Yonkers (on your assigned turf/region).

Printed names and addresses must be legible.
No one may sign for another person. (Example: a mother cannot sign for a son.)

Section 3: Collect Signatures and Mobilize Volunteers
After you complete the petition, also collect:
Phone number
Email address
Any other helpful notes
Then share your notes with Team García.
Don’t Do This
Do not forge any signature. (Perjury; punishable by law.)
Do not abbreviate a name or address.
Do not sign your own petition or witness a petition with your signature on it.
Do not allow anyone to sign for someone else (example: “My kids aren’t home, I can sign for them.”).
Do not let the clipboard leave your sight.
Do not allow signing outside of your view (example: “My spouse is in the other room, I’ll bring it to them.”).
End of Shift

Introduction
“Hi, my name is [Your Name], and I’m a volunteer with Jeannette García’s campaign for State Assembly here in Yonkers. We’re out today collecting signatures to get her on the ballot.”
If they ask who she is
“Jeannette is running to bring serious, independent leadership to Albany. She’s focused on school funding, affordability, public safety, and government accountability.”
Ask for their signature
“This isn’t an endorsement. It just allows voters to have the choice to vote for her. Would you be willing to sign?”
After they sign
“Thank you. Do you typically vote early, by mail, or on Election Day?”
“We’re building a grassroots team. Would you be interested in volunteering?”
